Drawing

In art, children develop their drawing skills in key stage one by exploring different lines and colours. Once in key stage two, the children begin to create accurate drawings by adding shading and tone; creating texture by hatching and developing the concept of perspective. Here are some examples of key stage two artwork in the style of the artist Rosalind Monks. The children built up their skills by using a view finder to focus on two small elements of the image.

Finally, they drew part of a symmetrical image in the artist’s style.  Below, key stage two children are creating their own Pop Art self-portraits in the style of Roy Lichtenstein.
